About.

With the encouragement of her parents, Anita took an interest in music at a very early age. She started playing the piano at the age of nine and began singing in the church choir.  By the time she was ten years old, she and her brother, Brent Stapleton, were performing professionally at various venues in their home state of Pennsylvania. Some of the artists they opened shows for included country singers like: Ricky Skaggs, Connie Smith, Marty Stuart, Little Jimmy Dickens, Buck Trent, and many more.

When she turned seventeen, she began singing at the WWVA Wheeling Jamboree in Wheeling, West Virginia, and was opening for artists like Tammy Wynette, Ronnie Milsap, Tom T. Hall, Crystal Gayle, and more.

Back in 1995, she took the plunge and moved to Nashville to try and further her music career. In 1997, she was hired as a background singer for country artist, Patty Loveless, and toured with her for a year and a half.

Anita has made several television appearances throughout the years, including: Austin City Limits, Grand Ole Opry Live, Larry's Country Diner, and The Marty Stuart Show, and was a featured singer on the RFD-TV program, The Merlin Gene Show, from 2019-2022.

Her radio appearances have included: The Bill Cody Show and the Midnight Jamboree (both on AM 650 WSM - Nashville), and from 2016 -2017, she hosted her own radio program called, You're Lookin' At Country, on WWOV - 101.1 FM (Wheeling, West Virginia).

From 2011 - 2014, Anita and Mr. Leon Rhodes (legendary guitarist for Ernest Tubb's band, The Texas Troubadours and the television show, Hee Haw) performed on Saturday afternoons at the Ernest Tubb Record Shop in downtown Nashville.

Anita has recorded several solo Country and Gospel projects over the years, and she has sung background vocals for various artists in recording studio such as Moe Bandy, Betty Jean Robinson, Carroll Roberson, and Tommy Cash.

These days, Anita sings with her brother as much as she can, and she performs regularly on Tuesday afternoons at a venue in Nashville called The Music City Bar & Grill. She is also very active in the tourism industry, working as a singing tour guide.
